With great sadness, we share the passing of Scott Dufton Campbell, born November 17, 1953, in Cobourg, Ontario, on March 31, 2026.
Scott was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Chere, and a proud father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Lizzy Campbell and his infant brother Christopher. He is survived by his children: Darcy and his children, Dawson & Ella; Jamie (Sarah) and their child, George; Tyler (Chantal) and their children, Ruby & Lincoln; Caeleb; Victoria (Geoff) and their children, Miller & Wrenly. He was dearly loved by his siblings Bonnie (Ray), Doug (the late Brenda), Kyle (Rosemary), and Bryn (Julie), as well as his sister- and brothers-in-law Vicki (Terry) Irwin, the late Guy McQuaig and the late Mark McQuaig, and many nieces and nephews.
Scott grew up in Cobourg with his family and attended the East High School. By Grade 10, he realized his passion for working and building something of his own was stronger than his desire to remain in school, and that decision marked the beginning of an incredible career. His natural talent for making a deal quickly became evident, and many would say that anything he touched turned to gold. What truly set Scott apart, however, was his deep respect and appreciation for people. Whether you were a business colleague or an employee across his many ventures, he made everyone feel valued.
Scott was taken from us far too soon. He had a rare gift for inspiring those around him, and his generosity and love touched countless lives. Whether through his kindness, his presence, or his way of showing up for others, Scott made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him, with so many calling him their best friend.
Anyone fortunate enough to spend time with Scott knew the presence he carried; he had a way of filling a room with energy, warmth, and life. His storytelling, jokes, and infectious laughter brought people together and left lasting impressions. While he may no longer be sitting at the table with us, his stories and the memories he created will continue to live on through all of us.
A private funeral service will be held for the immediate family.
A Celebration of Scott’s Life will be held in the near future. Extended family, friends and all who loved Scott are welcome to attend.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched, far more than we may ever fully know. A superhero to so many…
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of Scott's favourite charities, the Cobourg Salvation Army.
Sending our heartfelt condolences Chere, and the entire Campbell family as you mourn the loss of Scott. May you find strength in each other, his legacy of love shines brightly in your family. You are in our hearts and prayers. Rob and Cindee St Pierre

Chere and family. We were so sorry to hear of Scott’s passing. Sending love to you all.
Knowing Scott in many capacities over my 46 year tenure in the energy industry, it was an absolute pleasure and something I cherished deeply and will remember fondly. Very early on I met Scott through my mentor, boss, and years on my business partner, the late great Stan Beesley! Scott right from day one offered leadership, insights, laughter, and loyal friendship! Few match up to the greatness of Scott Campbell, and I consider it one of life's blessings to say he was a good friend! Samantha and I will miss him greatly and remember him fondly forever! Rest in Peace, Scott and God Bless You!
Chere and family please accept my deepest condolences.
Cherè, D’Arcy, Jamie, Tyler, Caleb and Victoria and family; There are no words adequate enough it seems… or everyone else has expressed them. Scott was larger than life and there will now be a tremendous void in yours. I hope Heaven, and everyone there, is ready for all those great stories. With warm hugs to all… Karen

My deepest condolences Chere and family. We have lost a true gentleman, a friend and a strong partner for our industry. God bless you, you will be missed.
I'm so sorry to hear of Scott's passing. In the late 80's, Scott was instrumental in my being hired as a sales rep for Ilsco where I remained until I retired. Time spent with Scott frequently resulted in a story we could reminisce and laugh about as the years went by. He was a sharp business man who brought a humanity to the role. He was deeply loyal to his employees, customers and suppliers who were people to Scott, not just business contacts. Scott exuded a presence in a room. A natural leader. Someone you wanted to know. I'll remember him fondly and continue to share our stories where his humour will live on in the telling. Sincere sympathies to all those touched by this loss.
Hello Chere, Caeleb, Victoria, Jamie, Darcy, Tyler, Bonnie, Doug, Kyle, Bryn, Vicki and Terry. I have met all of you at least once in my 20 years working at Grafton/HD. Your husband, dad, brother and in law has had a big impact on me, even though he was not my direct boss. For several years, I spent a few days a year on road trips and visited Florida a couple of times for "sales meetings". Scott was a kind, generous and helpful person with lots of fun spirit and plenty of get up a go to win the next order/contract. He has helped me personally and professionally and I will never forget Scott Campbell.... Every time he came into our Calgary office he went to each employees desk and shook their hand and searched for anyone who was not at their desk.. Never phony, always genuine... I will carry with me the concept of the final final and will continue to drive Nissan and Infiniti vehicles for ever... See you in the next life Scott Campbell.
So sad to hear about the loss of cousin, Scott. Such a warm, generous soul that always greeted you with a smile. Thankful to have spent our early Cobourg years together with the Dufton clan of cousins. He will be dearly missed by all. A friend to all who knew him.

I’m so sorry Chere. Scotty was a great guy, always had fun when I was around him. i’m so glad I was able to know him.. Love you❤️❤️
From the early days of chasing pucks in the Cobourg Church Hockey League to experiencing the fun and challenges of making it to class on time at CDCI East, Scott and I were good pals in simpler times. We were ushers at each other's weddings and he was my daughter's godfather. Scott was a " foxhole" friend, always there to help with a problem and lighten the mood with his larger than life laugh. In the early days, there was mischief....lots of mischief followed by a respected business career and a " Campbell sized " family. I am sad that my " in the day " pal is gone but as I type this, I am smiling as all the stories and shared life events tumble back to me. I am honored to have shared in a small part of Scott's well lived life. RIP my friend.
What a wonderful man and friend. It's hard to believe he's gone. We had so many adventures and amazing memories. Sending our love to Chere and the whole Campbell family. In the days ahead may you take comfort in knowing just how special and loved Scott was. Love Mark and Cinde
Sorry to learn of Scotts passing. It has been many years since the last time I have seen Scott .I think the last time was on the main street in Haliburton while I was delivering.
