In his 80th year, Michael passed away unexpectedly ‘to be with Jesus’, a few of the last spoken words to Heather should he not survive.
Loving husband to Heather (White, Bolton) for 28 years. cherished father to sons Scott, Steven and John Bolton (Valentina), special grandpa to wee Monica, beloved only son of Mervin and Anita Haines (deceased), remembered by Helen Haines and missed by his fur babies Chloe and Shadow.
Michael always liked being referred to as the ‘favourite’ brother-in-law to Suzanne (Dave) Caldwell, Sharon (Paul) Clinton, Jim (Kathleen) White, and Beatrix White (John Vescio) and the ‘fun’ uncle to many wonderful nieces and nephews and their children who he enjoyed spending time with and were shocked and saddened by his sudden passing as were his many friends.
Employed by the TTC (engineering) for 30 years. Following his retirement at 50 years old, Michael enjoyed many years working part time in the car industry. But by far his favourite position was during Covid when he decided to be a greeter at Walmart (Cobourg) just because he loved being ‘out with the living’ (a favourite quote of his Uncle Johnny) and talking to people! Many there often complimented him by saying he was the best greeter!
His life was filled with many activities, golf (favourite), bowling, playing cards, volunteering, morning coffee with friends, men’s Bible study, and being a part of the church life groups and the church community.
Michael truly loved being with people and his ‘larger than life’ personality always made an impact on those he briefly met and those who became his lifelong friends.
Many thanks and appreciation goes out to the paramedics in Halton region and Cobourg, the medical staff at Milton Hospital, Northumberland Hills Hospital, Peterborough Regional Health Centre and Kingston General who took excellent care of Michael during his sudden illness to his passing. A special acknowledgement goes out to those who gave Michael spiritual support and prayed with him; at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Janice Buck and Tyler Tavares (pastor) and Kingston General Hospital, Tim who visited Michael in the morning of March 17th and Dave who stayed with Michael throughout the rest of the day until he passed later that evening.
As per Michael’s wishes cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Cobourg Alliance Church on Saturday, April 18th, Visitation 11:30 am - 1 pm, Service at 1 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michael can be made to Cobourg Alliance Church, Northumberland Hills Hospital or Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
