With faith in God’s loving care, we announce that Margaret Elizabeth Benns (nee Graham) was called home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond, Margaret was a loving mother to Steve (Amanda) and Jeremy (Melissa), a proud grandmother to Kelsey (Brad), Nicholas (Melissa), Elizabeth, and Reed, and a cherished great-grandmother to Bennett and Clayton.
Margaret was a devoted sister to Tammy and was predeceased by her brother, George. She was also a dear sister-in-law to Grace (predeceased Bill) and Bonnie and will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews: Paul, John, David, Geoff, Erin, Jacob, and Allison. She will also be warmly remembered by her best friend Susan and her dear friend, Howard.
She lived her life with faith, kindness, and compassion. Margaret was a proud sorority sister (Beta Sigma Phi), an active member of the Horticultural Society, a dedicated member of the Library Board, a valued volunteer at the Capitol Theatre, and a UCW member. Her warmth, generosity, and love for others will be remembered by all who knew her.
As per Marg's wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life that will be held on Saturday July 18th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Centreton Community Center (2363 Northumberland County Road 23, Grafton, Ontario) right across from the Ray Benns Memorial Park. In memory of Marg, donations may be made to Ed's House Northumberland Hospice.
Sincere condolences and prayers to all of Margaret's family and friends. We first met Margaret through Ray's time on Alnwick/Haldimand Township Council. I got to know Marg very well during her time on the Library Board, of which I was an avid follower and staunch supporter. There is an empty seat at the table, and Marg will truly be missed. Marg was an intelligent, thoughtful and kind person. I am glad to have known you Margaret, and rest in peace my friend. Gritt Koehl

My sincere sympathies and condolences to Marg's family. I first met Marg through the Horticultural Society but got to know her much better when she joined a luncheon group of Grafton gals I set up to keep in touch after I moved the Cobourg. I enjoyed her sense of humour and marvelled how she kept up her cheerful personality in spite of her many health challenges during the last couple of years. She will be missed at our lunches and especially by the community at large to which she contributed so much.
Sorry for the loss
