Peacefully at Hope Street Terrace, Port Hope on February 23rd, 2026 in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Gloria (nee Quantrill) the love of his life. Loving father of Cindy Garrison (deceased) and Pam Schumacher. Step-father of Kevin (Lori) Currier and Shelley (Steve) Biggs. Proud poppa to Jeremy (Krystal) Kopatz, Chrisine (Justin) Abbruscato, Kandyse (Andrew) Carter, Kayleigh Fee, Riley and Owen Currier, Emma, Quinn and Keaton Biggs and 6 great grandchildren. Brother of Carol Loughan (William deceased), and 2 brothers Donald (Kathy) and Dennis (Kay) all of Illinois. Fred was pre-deceased by his sister Valarie (Steve). Fred is remembered by his brother-in-law John Quantrill (Donna). Fred and Gloria shared a beautiful life together filled with many trips. Fred cherished family and his many nieces and nephews in the U.S.A at family reunions. Fred loved to golf and was a member at Ashbrook Golf Club for many years. Fred loved watching baseball, a good game of cards and fishing. Fred joined the Port Hope United Church in 1992 and became veery involved with Vacation Bible Camp and the youth group. Fred was chair of the Church Board in 1995-1996 and later became presbytery representative and took on the role of Chair of the Presbytery. A funeral service will be held at Port Hope United Church on Thursday March 5th, 2026 at 11 am. A reception will be held at the Port Hope Masonic Temple, 54 Toronto Rd., Port Hope following the service. Interment of Fred’s ashes will take place in the spring in Port Hope Union Cemetery. If desired donations may be made to Port Hope United Church or charity of your choice.
Gloria - Peter and I send our deepest condolences on Fred’s passing. Whenever we saw you together, it was so clear you both remained smitten and in love. May those memories of your joy together, bring you comfort in the days ahead.
