Gregory John Blick

February 7, 1951 - February 5, 2026

Gregory John Blick passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026 in Cobourg Ontario, just a few days before his 75th birthday. He was born on February 7, 1951 in Toronto, Ontario, to Robert and June Blick.
Gregory was a devoted husband to Paula Marie (nee Dwyer) and a loving father to Candace (Chris), Christopher (Heather), Jacqueline (Mike), and Vanessa (Matthew). He was a proud and cherished grandfather to Lucas, Xander, Gregory, Jacob, Torunn, Patrick, Abigail, Russell. and Orson, who brought him immense joy. Gregory was also a fierce animal lover his whole life including his beloved dog, Xena.
Gregory dedicated 37 years of service to Ontario Power Generation where he was known for his strong work ethic, commitment, and desire to excel. Outside of his career he enjoyed travel, always savoring the experiences and memories made along the way.
Very involved within his community, Greg took great interest in helping the less fortunate with housing and food. A lot of his humanitarian work was conducted through the Grafton SSVP (St Vincent de Paul) and the Lakeshore Particular Council.
He built his first house in 1975 which took 2 years to complete. To build he only needed to read a book to translate it to reality, a truly impressive skill he carried to all parts of his life.
Greg and his family built a beautiful cottage on a lake front for everyone to gather. The project was completed with the family coming together, which was evident as it became his own paradise centered around relaxation.
Greg and Paula grew their family together for 18 years on the beaches of Kincardine. It was there that Greg shared his love for all water activities with his children, creating memories they will continue to cherish. From swimming and survival skills to adventure and safety tips, Greg played a large role in his family’s life.
Gregory and Paula were married for 48 years which to some may read as an accomplishment but for them it was easier than breathing. Their love remained a constant part of both of their lives and inspired the hearts of all around them.
Generosity to family was not limited to just his immediate family though, Gregory built a home for his mother-in-law where she lived happily for the rest of her life. They had a great love for one another, always quick for a joke and both always had room for dessert.
His other great love was his wood working shop where he spent many hours with his son in law building cupboards and a whole manner of things. It was through this hobby Greg showed his quiet desire to continue learning, he would teach himself how to use new tools and techniques to create anything he or those closest to him needed. His latest works are beautiful outdoor chairs of which he gifted a pair to each of his children. A caring man through every moment of his life.
Gregory will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his loyalty, and his quiet strength. He will be deeply missed by all who felt the warmth of his presence.
Visitation will be held Friday February 13th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and Saturday February 14th from 9:00am – 11:00am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Grafton with the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00am. A reception will follow next door in the school gym.

I first met Greg and Paula years ago at a St. Vincent de Paul meeting, and from that moment, they’ve always been warm, welcoming presences in my life. Greg, in particular, has been a steady source of encouragement and wisdom, walking beside me on my journey with kindness and quiet strength. I’ll deeply miss our talks—those meaningful, honest conversations where we’d hash out life’s challenges and laugh through the weight of the world. Greg had a rare gift for listening, understanding, and lifting others up. Every meeting will feel different without him. He truly was one of a kind. My deepest sympathies go to Paula and the entire family. You’re in my thoughts and prayers. With heartfelt love and gratitude, Sue Mazziotti-Armitage

Anne Gibson - February 9, 2026

Sincere Condolences in the loss of your loving husband Paula and Father Candace, Chris, Jackie and Vanessa. Know your Mom gave her all to help care for your Dad and try to make him feel as comfortable as she could. Also how she continued to be at his side in the hospital. Thankfully now he is at peace and with the Lord. When Bob and I visited or just I, Greg welcomed us or me warmly and with a quick wit. I could see how delighted Paula your mother was with the private flat with veranda he built for her as an attachment to your house. Yes Greg was a very caring loving man devoted to his family and made Bob and I at ease whenever we came. I regret not being able to come to the visitation and funeral but you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs. Anne

Guido Kelly - February 9, 2026

I met Greg over 15 years ago at one of our Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP) assemblies of which there are three each year. We always enjoyed our "meet-ups" and had a couple brew as we caught up on the happenings in our lives each time. As a matter of fact, Greg and I got together at our last assembly in October in Newmarket. Greg was a long time President of our SSVP Lakeshore Particular Council and did a great job of it. He was thrilled for me when my first grandchild was born in 2017 and wanted as many pics of him as I had available. Greg will be missed at our next SSVP assembly in April. My wife and I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Paula and the rest of his family. Guido Kelly, President, SSVP Ontario Regional Council.
