On Friday, January 30, 2026, God welcomed His daughter Linda Jean Lorraine Pace (née Potter) home into His arms. Beloved mother of Tom, Rick and Clarinda, Linda was pre-deceased by her brother Jim (AKA ”Zimmy”) and survived by her brothers Doug and Rick (Mary), her nieces and nephews as well as extended and honorary family.
Linda was born in the region of Hamilton, Ontario and spent her early years playing with her brothers on the farm at No. 1 Sideroad, near Mt. Nemo. As a student, she was noted by her teachers for being exceptionally neat and tidy, though easily drawn to interesting distractions. After graduating, she became skilled in bookkeeping, a talent that reflected her natural organization and care.
After marrying, Linda became the proud mother of three children. Motherhood became the defining and most cherished role of her life.
Much of Linda’s adult life was spent in Northumberland County. She was outgoing by nature and radiated joy and laughter, which effortlessly attracted new friends. She actively volunteered in her community in groups and initiatives such as Helping Hands, Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettles and Vacation Bible Schools at various churches.
Mid-life, Linda bought her first pet budgie and named him Zachaeus, because he was a wee little bird. He was quickly joined by Jenny, and over time Linda’s flock grew to more than fifteen budgies, including Acro, Sky, Calvin, Socks, Simone and others - each one known and loved.
Linda loved stories. She avidly read for herself and to her children as they grew. She loved the Bible, and stories of Corrie Ten Boom, as well as other heroes and heroines. She became a great fan of the Murdoch Mysteries TV show, and even attended on location sets when production was filming in Cobourg. Once she was even interviewed by a local TV station as an exuberant fan of the show! With lots of time at home during the COVID years, her love for animals expanded to watching and feeding the chipmunks (‘chippies’), squirrels and humming birds out her patio doors. While very attached to animals outside her windows, she also became a die-hard fan of the youtuber Dusty Baker and his stories of Big Joe, Dunbar and Eleanor from Cross Timbers Bison Ranch in Oklahoma. Linda was always excited to re-tell stories.
On her final day, Linda spent time with Rick and Tom, and also talked to Clarinda on the phone. Clarinda’s call came while Linda was reading Psalms 30 and 31, and so Linda just continued to read those Psalms over the phone, giving thanks and praises to God.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Church on the Hill in Cobourg on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 11am.
Pace family Sorry for your loss.
My deepest condolences Tom and family. You are in my thoughts.
My warmest wishes to Linda and to her family, and especially Rick. May she rest in peace. I remember her as a kind woman in the days that Rick and I were in school together and both fascinated by the academic challenges that CDCI East had to offer. Those were great times! Thank you for this sincere obituary. She was a good and Christ loving person.
Rick, Very sorry to hear of your loss.
We met Linda approximately five years ago while volunteering at the Salvation Army's food box programme. We were immediately drawn to her kind and generous nature. We enjoyed many happy and congenial conversations. Each and every meeting she treated all the volunteers to her delicious egg salad sandwiches. It was a privilege to have known her.
My deepest condolences Tom, Rick and Clarinda. Your Mom touched so many with her loving heart and kind words. We became friends through the Co-Op. I called her My Angel. Now she is in the Loving Hands of our Lord. She has her real Angel Wings now. God Bless Linda. I am blessed to have known you. Soar with Angels. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend.
So sorry to hear of Linda's passing. Such a lovely lady. Condolences to her friends and family.
Dear Tom,Rick and Clarinda Sending our love and prayers to you at this difficult time. Your Mother was a wonderful woman of God and will be missed by all. Cherish all the good memories that you's have created over the years and hold them close to your hearts. Wendy and Rick
