It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dorothy Helène Bishop on January 1, 2026 at the age of 98.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Maude and John Barnden and six siblings.
A daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She wore many hats with grace and confidence.
Beloved wife of the late Joseph, loving mother to the late David, Susan Fairweather (Stu), Sherri Grieder (the late Gord) and Shelley Warrington (Ken). She was the proud grandmother of the late Kerri, Mark, Lindsay, Lauren, Jenna, Taryn, Kyle, Holly, Brittany and Jennifer and great grandmother to nineteen. Best friend to sister-in-law the late Ethel.
Dorothy grew up in England and worked in a munitions factory during WWII.
She emigrated to Canada with other war brides soon after.
She was an accomplished seamstress and loved her lawn bowling, darts, cards and never turned down a trip to the casino.
As a popular member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, she ran the kitchen for many years at Branch 67, Lindsay. She held the rank of president and was later voted in to the esteemed position of Deputy Zone Commander.

Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lindsay at a later date.

Sorry to hear about Dorothy. I remember her, she loved to lawn bowl and volunteer in the kitchen on tournament days.
