Julia Esford - January 8, 2026

At BHS, I encouraged Kevin to take courses to raise his category. He laughed because I corrected his papers with a red pen. He loved going fishing with my father and I lost track of the mushrooms I peeled for his and |Heather's shower. After retirement, a group of us would go to Grafton and eat the best burgers, chez Kevin, and have wonderful times. He regretted that his beloved Heather passed before she knew the hotel was a success. I visited him at Seasons and cried when the disease took its toll on him. Kevin was a kind man, a great friend, a good decent man who made a difference to every life he touched.

Our Condolences to his family. I met Kevin in 1971 when he was asked to show me around the new school - we became friends from then on. We travelled a fair bit together after he finished college and have wonderful memories of those times; probably bored others when we were reminiscing. His Dad (Dennis) once told us that if you have one real friend in your life you have done well - Kevin was that friend for me. I will miss him, but I will smile when I think about him. He was a good man! Rob & Roslyn Smart

Dear Tom and Drew, I am so sorry andcsaddened to hear of your Dad's passing. I spent 3 years teaching with your Dad and several years as a friend's. We didn't see much of each other but did talk a lot on the phone prior to his illness. He was a wonderful man and teacher who inspired his students to be all they could be. I have so many fond memories of your dad, teaching, coaching rugby together and spending time at several social events. His energy and sense of humor always carried the day. I can remember him talking of you both with great pride and love from the day you were born. When we talked he was always sharing your wonderful experiences in life. He was such a positive influence on all. I am thankful I had him in my life, so proud to call him a friend and will never forget him. He and your Mom are reunited together and will always be with you both through your journeys in life. They will live forever through your and our memories of them. Best wishes for you both. Sending our love. Peter and Laura Willems

He always looked out for me when needed and he was a phenomenal human being. who treated EVERYONE with respect and friendship. I will never forget him for the human being he was. Thank you for being you Kevin O' Gorman

Darcy Veitch - December 27, 2025

So shocked and saddened to hear this. Mr. O'Gorman was not only one of the best teachers I ever had, but one of the most incredible human beings I've ever had the privilege of knowing. His passion for teaching and shaping lives, was only overshadowed by his heart kindness and sense of humour. While he may not remember all the faces he impacted, no one will ever forget him.... Fly high "Super O", God bless you.

I am shocked to hear of Kevin’s passing. I had lost touch with him in recent years but will always remember him from so many conversations at BHS while we worked together. Kevin and Drew, I am so sorry to hear about your dad’s passing. He was a friend of mine and I really liked him.

David Rempel - December 27, 2025

Kevin was truly a once-in-a-lifetime student at High School. He was so gifted, so naturally skilled, that his own industrial arts teacher chose to take early retirement simply to create a teaching position for Kevin to step into. It surprised no one that Kevin went on to become an extraordinary industrial arts teacher himself—deeply respected and genuinely loved by his students. One of my BHS favorite memories of Kevin was the day he and a student recreated the “Soul Man” scene from The Blues Brothers. Kevin sang, danced, and played the harmonica with pure joy and confidence. The 460 seat auditorium was packed, the energy electric, and when they finished, the crowd rose to its feet in a standing ovation. It was unforgettable—just like Kevin. Kevin was a great friend to many. I now treasure our visits, our conversations, and our shared reminiscing about Bowmanville High School. He was a generous and loving father to his two sons, and an incredible husband to Heather. Beyond teaching, Kevin was also a successful businessman and entrepreneur who worked hard and provided generously for his family. Kevin faced LBD with remarkable strength and grace. At Seasons Retirement in Bowmanville, he was often seen with his harmonica tucked into his back pocket, ready to take song requests from fellow residents—still bringing smiles, still connecting through music. Kevin accomplished an extraordinary amount in his lifetime, but more importantly, he touched countless lives with his talent, kindness, and spirit. I know he will be thrilled to be reunited with his beloved Heather. His legacy lives on in his family, his students, his friends, and in the many memories that will continue to make us smile.
