After a full life devoted to family, faith, and community service, William (Bill) Charles Davis passed away on September 15, 2025 at the age of 86.
Bill will be remembered for his warmth, humour, and ability to connect with everyone he met. He had a remarkable gift for conversation, listening deeply, caring fully, and turning acquaintances into lifelong friends.
Bill was ordained as an Anglican priest and served congregations in the Diocese of Toronto. His commitment to education and public service led him to serve as a school board trustee and later as Chair of the Scarborough Board of Education. In 1985, Bill was elected as a Member of Provincial Parliament for Scarborough Centre. Following politics, he became the Executive Director of the Ontario and Toronto Automobile Dealers Associations.
He also found joy in life’s simple pleasures: time at the family cottage, travel with close friends, and the laughter and stories shared around good meals. Music, humour, and love filled the spaces where Bill was present, and his generosity of spirit touched all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Linda (nee Park), his children Kathleen (Michael), Susan (Jonathan), and Jamie (Karen), and six grandchildren, Jason, Tyler, Lucas, Jacob, Cian, and Andie, who were his pride and joy. He will also be deeply missed by his sisters, Bette and Pat, along with extended family and many dear friends.
Visitation to be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church (corner of College St. and King St. E. in Cobourg) on Monday, September 22 from 11 am until 12 noon. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church on Monday, September 22 at 12 noon. Interment will follow at the Heritage Cemetery of St. Peter. Reception to follow the interment and will be held at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg.

I have just found out about Bill's passing and this news saddens me. As a former MPP at Queen's Park, I had the pleasure of discussing with him about issues that were close to both us. Even though we came from very different culures, backgrounds, and political parties, it didn't matter. These were most interesting moments spent with him. I enjoyed his good nature, his love of interesting dialogues, his smile, his laughter. His photo above is exactly my souvenir of Bill. Thank you Bill. To Madame Davis, his family and friends, I extend my most sincere condolences. (Mr.) Jean POIRIER Alfred Ontario Liberal MPP Prescott-Russell 1984-1995 Deputy Speaker 1987-1990
My deepest Sympathies, Linda to you and your family. Your husband was a spark of joy every time I met him at Extendicare when I was visiting my mother, Pat Gummer. You were always there for him and after reading further, I understand just how much he contributed to so many. May he rest now and you find peace in your memories. Sincerely Laurie and Bob Ewart

We all mourn the loss of such a good and gentle man. It was my good fortune to meet Bill in 1985 as newly minted Tory MPPs at Queens Park. There were nine of us. We sat in the House together and shared many memorable moments. Bill was known for his calm manner, positive outlook and always a help when needed. We never saw him angry, always smiling and encouraging us during our difficult time in opposition. It was a privilege to serve with him and a greater privilege to know him.
Linda: Our thoughts and prayers are with you and all the Davis family. May he rest in peace.
I was very sorry to read of Bill’s passing.I have many wonderful memories of time spent with Bill in the Auto industry and he always had a word of advice. That extended to my political career and again, many great conversations. Kerry and I extend our deepest sympathy to Linda and the Davis family. Wishing you strength and peace through this time as you celebrate Bill’s life, one well lived! John &Kerry Carmichael

I always called Bill "Coach." He was pivotal in shaping me for my decades in parish ministry. I was blessed. Sadly, we are in Ireland at this time otherwise I would be there to honor my friend.
I was privileged to have known and worked with Bill Davis for almost 25 years, from his initial appointment as the Manager of Government Relations for the Toronto and Ontario Automobile Dealers Associations until his retirement as the General Manager of those same Associations. Bill possessed an overwhelming spirit of goodwill and seemingly limitless energy in all of his interactions on behalf of the Retail Automotive Industry. He set a high standard of performance for all who followed in the roles that he faithfully executed. In this, an ongoing contribution was established that can truly be said to be his enduring legacy. - Tom Tonks General Manager (emeritus) Canadian International AutoShow - 1983 to 2015
