Suddenly on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Lakeridge Health in Ajax, in her 58th year. Beloved wife of Shelly Fredericks. Loving daughter of Janice (nee Farminer) and the late Kenneth Gore. Cherished sister of David (Craig) and Barbara. Daughter-in-law of Shirlee Fredericks. Sister-in-law of Steven Fredericks. Joanne will be sadly missed by her nieces Hannah, Rachel, and Hanna.
Joanne was born in Toronto but spent her formative years in Medicine Hat, Alberta. It was there that she developed her life long love for music, excelling at piano, saxophone, and violin. She was a passionate and skilled musician, and was never far from her instruments. Following high school, Joanne studied Psychology at the University of Toronto. Joanne was a proud civilian employee of the Toronto Police Service for over 35 years, working initially as a 911 operator and then in parking enforcement.
Joanne and Shelly met in their late 40’s in 2017. They were married in February 2020, just before the world shut down due to the pandemic. Joanne was a loyal, caring and fun partner who shared eight and a half loving years with Shelly.
A celebration of Joanne’s life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 with visitation between 5 and 6pm. Words of remembrance will commence at 6pm, with refreshments after until 9pm in the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre in Cobourg, Ontario.
Donations in Joanne’s memory can be made to the Canadian Migraine Society or Fibromyalgia Association Canada.

So sorry for your loss Shelly. This is so tragic after what you have been through lately with the rest of family. We have never met Joanne but knew from you, you’re mom and family that happiness was abundant. Long distances from loved ones you lose touch and it seems these are incidents that reconnect us. I keep this in mind whenever I’m lonely. “Gone are the times we use to share but in our hearts you are always there. Life goes on we know thats true but it’s not the same since we lost you.” We will meet again. Love ❤️ you Shell Our deepest condolences 💐 Rob and June

My deepest sympathies. You are in my thoughts.
Shelly, we are so sorry for your loss of Joanne. Our prayers are with you during this devastating time. There are no words that will help you. Just a hug.
Shelly, I never had the pleasure of meeting Joanne in person but she was a very good friend. Meeting as fellow moderators online for the Chronic Migraine Support Group, we had many opportunities to collaborate and get to know each other. Joanne was known for her understanding and compassion. She helped so many people through the rough times and was always willing to share her own struggles in order to encourage another. If Joanne didn’t know the answer, she figured it out so she could answer people’s questions without delay. Behind the scenes, Joanne became a good friend, someone I could count on when I needed a bit of extra encouragement. We, at the Canadian Migraine Society will miss her dearly.
Shelly, My most heartfelt and deepest condolences and sympathies go out to you during this very hard time in your life. I'm in shock. I know how much you cared for each other. Sending lots of love, hugs and keeping you in my prayers.💞🩷🙏
Our hearts go out to Shelly and families.
