Walter "Blair" Stokes

May 4, 1967 - February 19, 2024

On Monday, February 19th, 2024 suddenly and unexpectedly Blair Stokes left this world at the age of 56. He leaves behind his beloved life partner and wife of 37 years, Maria Stokes (nee Sebastiao). Blair was the incredibly proud father to his children Andrew, Amanda and Joshua (Courtney) and loved being a grandfather to Aleena and Kali. Dear brother to Sonya (Steve) and pre-deceased by his brother John. Cherished brother-in-law to Lucy (Tony) Cruz and Linda Sebastiao. Pre-deceased by his parents Minnie and Joe Stokes as well as sister-in-law Nellie and brother-in-law Manny. Blair will be deeply missed by all of his extended family including his many wonderful nieces and nephews as well as his friends. Although our hearts ache at the loss of such an incredible husband, father, and grandfather we know that we have gained one of god’s most beautiful guardian angels. A visitation will be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM followed by a service at 3:00PM. Following the service friends and family will be welcomed to the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre for a celebration of Blair’s life. If so desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Blair.

John 16-22 “So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.”

Uncle Mike and Aunt Angela - February 24, 2024

Maria and family, We are saddened and shocked to learn of Blair's passing. He was a special Nephew. We had many long chats (many were after Midnight Newfoundland time) While it is sad to see Blair pass so young, we take comfort that his suffering has ended and that is reunited with his loving parents and his brother John. God Bless You All Uncle Michael and Aunt Angela

Jennifer Randall - February 24, 2024

Maria, We were so sorry to learn of Blair's passing. As others have mentioned, his sense of humor is what we remember most when we think of him. We know you'll use the more than 37 years of wonderful, funny, painful, crazy, outrageous stories of your life together to keep his memory alive for Aleena and Kali (although some of the best ones will have wait until they're much older!). Please know that you're in the thoughts of the Rhode Island cousins. Love Jennifer and Karen

Clark Stokes - February 24, 2024

Dear Maria and family. I was so sad to hear of Blair’s passing and know that you are all in my thoughts today. I will miss his messages on my phone which always made me smile, although I could get in trouble for some of them ;). We were very close when we were younger and I’m sure he would have shared some of these adventures with you among his endless others. God bless you all and wish you strength today. Love Clark

Jim and Theresa stokes - February 24, 2024

We are very saddened to lose our wonderful nephew. We are comforted that his pain and suffering is over, but distraught that he went so young. He fought such a courageous battle with his many ailments and always remained positive with such determination and strength. Blair had such a great sense of humour. Just last summer while visiting Newfoundland, he visited us and kept us laughing constantly with his stories of growing up in Ontario. His wife Maria was always just as humorous and they surely complemented each other. We will never forget you Blair and May you Rest In Peace in your well deserved eternity. Uncle Jim and Aunt Theresa
