Harold Ronald Baker

July 21, 1951 - January 30, 2024

Harold Baker, born in Belleoram, Newfoundland on July 21st 1951, passed away peacefully on January 30th 2024 at the age of 72. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Loni, daughter Shelley (Jeffrey), son Jeffrey (Ashley), and grandkids Lucas, Jackson, Cameron, Harvey and Vera, whom he was so proud of. Predeceased by his beloved mother, Mary, father William, and brother Bill (Pat). He will be missed by his brothers and sisters, Lionel (Phyliss), Marilyn (Ray), Maxine, Martha (Wayne), Dorothy (Barry), Paul (Cindy), and Bonnie (Gerard). He will always be remembered by his extended family and the many, many special friends he had made during his life.
Even though Harold spent over 50 years in Cobourg Ontario, he was a true Newfoundlander. He was generous with his time, and had a natural ability to chit-chat with anyone. His unique sense of humor always got a laugh, even when it was the third time telling the same joke or story. He also loved the water, enjoyed fishing and telling stories about ‘the one that got away’. Harold had many skills and was meticulous with his work (measure twice, cut once). He will always be remembered as someone who could be counted on to lend a helping hand or tool to get the job done.
In April 2022, Harold was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. The support received by family and friends these past two years will never be forgotten. All the visits, and phone calls, and coffees and smoke breaks were so important for keeping his spirits up as he bravely battled everything that pancreatic cancer threw at him. It is a true reflection of who he was, and the amazing people that surrounded him.
We are also truly grateful for all the health care professionals who supported him. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Northumberland Hills Hospital - Cancer and Supportive Care Clinic and/or Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service at this time.

Harold was the first Newfie I ever met, and he was a hoot, some of the sayings he had would make me laugh, and some of them had to be explained to me. Harold would laugh and explain. I didn't see Harold for a number of years, but lately I did get to chat with him often, and he always had a smile and a story. RIP Harold
