For Betty's sake let me correct my previous posting. What she gave out was a "Anti-Depression kit" which had the following words and contained the items mentioned: An ERASER to make all those little mistakes disappear. A PENNY so you will never be completely broke. A MARBLE for those days when you're sure you've lost all of yours. An ELASTIC to help you stretch beyond your current limits. A STRING to hold it all together when it seems to be falling apart. And a HUG & KISS to remind you someone cares for you! That was the Betty Lautenbach that I remember. Thank you, and God bless you Betty.

Malcolm Blackburn - November 12, 2023

It is with sadness that I read of Betty's passing. At Weetabix there was never a dull moment when Betty was around and I still have the 'Survival Kit' that she used to hand out. Always positive and supportive. R.I.P. Betty.

David Kemp - November 10, 2023

Although I have not spoken to most of my Canadian relatives for awhile I always thought that we would get together again. Betty and Sid were always the ones who put us up when we were younger. I played with Cheryl, Fred, Sid Jr., Geraldine, and Wendy, when we visited years ago and went picking strawberries. Betty always treated us well and she made the best strawberry jam I’d ever tasted. Time has blown by and my last trip was the year my father died in 1993, 30 years pass so quickly. I’ve wanted to visit everyone during this time but have never been able due to work, or financial issues. I will always miss Betty and all their children. I’d still like to make another visit soon but now that I have the time, It’s financial issues that put on the kibash. I’m sorry for the loss of my cousin Betty and throughout her life we always said she was my aunt. Much love and condolences for all the Lautenbach’s, Harts, Blacks, and Kemp’s. Rest now in the arms of Christ , you will never be forgotten.

Wendy Best(Lennips) - November 10, 2023

Anneke Russell - November 9, 2023

I loved Betty. She always gave me mints in church. Even if I didn't sit beside her, she would find a way to sneak it into my hand, usually before she went to her seat. She gave Andrew her cook book because she knew he liked cooking, but sadly we've moved 3 times since then and I can't find it but I will remember her. She felt like family even if we weren't related.

Janice and Gary Gleason - November 9, 2023

To Gerri and Family, Betty always made sure we had enough of everything when visiting with her family be it food, drink or a listening ear but most of all love and laughter. But it's the devilish twinkle in her eyes that made us wonder "what's next". Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the family. Love, Janice and Gary xoxo

Terry Barrett - November 8, 2023

To the entire Lautenbach Family, Betty's loss is significant. Whether it was working with her on the line at Weetabix starting in 1980, or their house in Baltimore with Sid, or a quick visit while at her last house on Frei Street (thank you Gerri and Ed!), Betty showed me comical patience and always a huge SMILE. Christmas parties at her house in Baltimore way back and a fresh gift of baked cookies certainly enhanced my appreciation for this wonderful lady. She will be missed but always loved. RIP Betty! I am in Nova Scotia at moment and sadly cannot make her funeral but please accept my sincere thoughts and condolences.... Terry

Ken De Meûter - November 7, 2023

I've never quite left a message like this, so I do apologize if it is rather odd sounding... But I want to say to all of the family: Betty, or Beppe as I knew her, was an absolute angel of a person. I only had the fortune to meet her a select few times, but she had a place in my heart from the get-go. Chantel (her granddaughter and at the time wife) spoke volumes of how loving and great her Beppe was and I got to see that in person. The first thing she did when we met together for a BBQ was teach me how to husk corn, something I'd never done. Her playful, sassy attitude and the loving energy she had is something I'll very fondly remember. She is an example for everyone to follow on how to be a good human being. To the family, I am so, so sorry for your loss. There is nothing to fill the hole she'll leave behind, but please know that she'll always be part of you. ♥ Ken
