Leanne “Yan” Marie Hill passed away peacefully on October 13, 2023, surrounded by family in her hometown of Cobourg at the age of 46.
Leanne is survived by her mother Suzanne; father Bob; partner Chris “Avis”; parents-in-law Peter and Mary; brother John, sister-in-law Sheila, niece Abbie, nephew Ben; brother Chris, sister-in-law Cathy; French Bulldogs Lewis and Gary as well as numerous relatives and close friends from all her adventures in life. She was predeceased by sister-in-law Kirsty.
Leanne was born on November 28, 1976, in Cobourg, Ontario. She graduated from Queens University in 1999 with a degree in Commerce. She pursued a successful career in the travel industry, most recently as an award-winning Strategic Account Manager at Royal Caribbean.
She met her partner Chris in Vancouver in 2011. They chose North Vancouver as their home base, where they took full advantage of the outdoors with Lewis and Gary always in tow.
Leanne was passionate above all else about family, travel, and her ‘poochies’. She was fortunate to have built a life that allowed her to prioritize all three, and loved capturing her life through her camera. She was a jet setter, experiencing over 50 countries, always building a layover into her itinerary which would allow her to spend quality time with her family before returning to Chris and the pups in advance of her next adventure.
All who knew Leanne would characterize her as bubbly, kind, generous and loving. She had a big personality and lived her life fully and fearlessly. She was taken from us far too early and will be missed dearly.
Her service will be held on Sunday, October 22 at 1:00pm at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St., E. Cobourg, followed by a celebration of life reception from 2:00pm - 4:00pm in the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Leanne’s life. We will also live stream the service at www.MacCoubrey.com for all those across the globe that are unable to attend in person.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, donate platelets through Canadian Blood Services, or donate old bedding and towels to your local animal shelter.

I’m absolutely heart broken to hear of Leanne’s passing. She was such a beacon of light and love to all of us in the travel industry. I have been a blood donator for several years already and vow to continue to donate and every unit I give I will do so in her memory and honour. My sincere condolences to Leanne’s family at this difficult time. I had the good fortune to work with Leanne when she first started her career at Flight Centre. She came in like a breath of fresh air as our Area Accountant when I was an Area Leader and I loved being on the leadership team with her. Her vibrant energy and laughter led to many wonderful times together. I have fond memories of our trip to New York to celebrate New Year’s Eve many years ago. I loved seeing Leanne blossom into her career in the cruise industry over the years and what an amazing legacy she leaves. Leanne loved her family fiercely and I am thinking of you all at this time. She will be deeply missed.

My husband and I didn't know Leanne for long having met her just in June 2023, but her sunny disposition made an immediate impact with us in addition to our common love of animals and travel. We stayed in touch regularly after our first meeting and were delighted to meet someone so special to call "friend." We were saddened to hear the news of her passing and we will miss her more than words can say. To commemorate the amazing person she was and her love for animals, we have donated cash and much needed items to our local animal shelters in her name. She is a kind and very supportive business development manager. I remember the first time I worked with her when she was at MSC. She and I work together on one of the large incentive groups. Even though the group kept changing all the time, she was very helpful and patient, and eventually we finalized and closed the deal smoothly. I'm grateful for what she did. She is a very hard working person and she never says no if I ask for a training workshop for my staff during the pandemic. She was always available and had all the important information ready to keep us informed, which made it easy for us to promote her company's products. I am very sorry for her passing and miss her. Leanne has had a big impact on my life and my career. Her words were always kind and supportive and her smile at our meetings and conferences are highlights that I will always remember. I first met Leanne by phone last year and I found her to be such a lovely person to talk to. Then I had the opportunity to meet her in person at a trade show and reconnected there. She travelled all over the world and was well known in the travel industry. Leanne always make her way home to see her family in Ontario. As she did again for Thanksgiving. Her last posts are all filled of celebration and love surrounded by her family. I can’t imagine the pain you are all feeling right now. Sending big hugs to you all. I was so sad to learn of Leanne’s passing. I had the pleasure of working with Leanne at MSC Cruises. Her enthusiasm for her work made her a delight to work with. To all her friends and family, my sincere condolences.

So very sorry ,devastating to hear of her passing. I only just meet Leanne but felt I knew her through her Uncle Ron ,my brother-inlaw, and father whom I knew well, what with stories abound of her life's adventures ,family ,and her beloved dogs. I've only known her for a few months through a cruise event, but she was a lovely person, welcoming, warm, funny, passionate, living life to its fullest. The travel industry will mourn her loss.
