Margaret Mary Cochrane

July 14, 1934 - March 7, 2023

Surrounded by her family, Margaret (Marg) Cochrane (nee Drumm) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023 at Northumberland Hills Hospital.
Marg was the much-loved wife of Willard Cochrane (predeceased) for 54 years. Loving mother to Deborah Bisset (Jan) and Catherine Timlin (Greg). Amazing Nana to Gillian Bisset, Stephanie Davidson (Alex), Courtney Cullen and Kaylee Cullen (John Hall). Loving great grandmother (G Nan) to Annabelle Davidson. Leaving behind her cherished kitty, Edie. Marg is predeceased by her parents Leo Drumm and Mary Catherine Gorman and her brother Paul Drumm (Doreen).
Marg grew up on a farm East of Cobourg and loved sharing stories about the animals and the work she helped her parents with. Marg made many lifelong friends growing up on the farm. She grew to be a strong, independent, social and open-minded woman. Her jobs at Bird Archer and many years with CO Depot #26 eventually led her to working at Cobourg District Collegiate Institute West. She had a wonderful 28 year long career as head secretary, forming cherished relationships with principals, teachers and pupils along the way. She was dedicated to helping people, making everyone around her feel special. Marg was an active community member. She loved being involved with organizations such as the Legion, her church, Probus and volunteering to support local, provincial and federal elections.
Marg kept active and busy. Among her favourite activities, she enjoyed traveling, baking, visiting the harbour, going out for a drive, tending to the gardens, going out for a stroll, sitting in the sun, and playing bridge with Dad or the ladies. She kept a close-knit group of friends, and was loyal to keeping in touch by email, or letter. She really would do anything for others and the ones she loved, including supporting Dad’s early stroke and his remaining years.
Mom was loved by all who knew her. Her kind and caring spirit was an absolute gift. It shone through in her love for people, nature, animals and of course, her family.
Mom will be so very deeply missed. We will miss our talks, vacations and laughing with her. Thank you to Dr.Bayer and the nurses and PSW’s at 2A and B and rehab for their kindness to mom and palliative care for their gentleness and compassion to mom. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church , Cobourg on Saturday March 18th, 2023 at 1 pm. (The Mass will be live streamed on St. Michael’s web site saintmichaelschurchcobourg.com. When you get on their web site, click watch virtual mass) If desired donations may be made to the charity of your choice. A Celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 133, Cobourg on Saturday May 27th from 1 - 4pm. Words of remembrance will be shared at 2pm.
