I didn't know Mickey, but he recognized the deer in headlights at Casino Rama first week of training (long ago) chaos as Gail's daughter. He was intuitive, and cared when he saw I had a muskrat racing in my heart, first time away and definitely considering running back home to Alderville. He gave me the sense of belonging and reminder of where I came from. Each shift I saw him after that first fist bump, my shoulders were crouched no more. Chi-miigwech

Mick was a very kind man and hard working man, always looked out for his family and buddies- a natural builder , musician and very intelligent he could hold a conversation with anyone and was loved by many , he took a lot of young guys under his wing - was very fair and honest . When my family decided to move back to Roseneath, Mick was one of the first guys to become a really good friend. We bonded over our love of music and spent many hours jamming and dreaming about being big rock stars. We played a couple of Mick's original songs at the old Alderville Community Centre for a talent show and it further fuelled our dreams. I haven't seen Mick for a long time, but I think about him often. Rock on, Brother!
