MESSAGES OF CONDOLENCE / DONATIONS

Tom Kernaghan - May 19, 2023

Though I can't be at the service today, I will always remember my Uncle David. I will remember his decency, his character, and how he put me up for days years ago when I was a university student on a work assignment in Cobourg. I will remember the times he helped me put a weight on a fishing line at the cottage. I will remember his repeated stories. I will remember that people thought he looked like Kenny Rogers when he had a beard back in the 1980s. And I thought of him two days ago when I stood in the ocean in Port Moody, BC, thinking about his service to Canada and the vast water to which he will return. RIP, Uncle David. Sail on forever. Love, Gib.

Dave was a great guy and he came down to visit Mom soon after he came to live at the Golden Plough. I remember him with the colour guard each Remembrance Day at the Plough. Brenda and Neil Manley

David was a distant cousin of ours. I believe in the day it was called “kissing cousins”. Didn’t really get to know him until his return to Cobourg. May he Rest In Peace.

Maurice Scott - December 7, 2022

David was such caring and kind individual whose guidance and caring helped me establish Cooey Day in Cobourg. He cared about everybody and was always willing to give his time and energy to many causes. Thank you David I will miss our great conversations and your generosity will be missed by many of us whose lives you touched. RIP David

Will most certainly miss Dave. Not just here at the village but up Hwy 45 when Peggy was still with us for a wonderful afternoon also for a wee shot before going up to reservation at Alderville for their Remembrance Day service. RIP Dave

Bill Thompson - December 7, 2022

A proud career RCN sailor just crossed the bar and will be sorely missed by family and all who knew him. He became my best friend when I came to Canada/Cobourg & always was there for anyone that he could help in any way. His dedication to his family and major contribution over the years to Cobourg Legion Branch 133 and society in so many ways was incredible. We could do with so many more people of his calibre in today's society.

Dad, I know that no matter what You will always be with me. When life separates us I’ll know it is only your soul Saying goodbye to your body But your spirit will be with me always. When I see a bird chirping on a nearby branch I will know it is you singing to me. When a butterfly brushes gently by me I will know it is you assuring me you are free from pain. Your spirit will be beside me For I know that no matter what You will always be with me. ❤️
