Leona Marie McAleer (nee Doiron), born June 3, 1938 in Charlottetown Prince Edward Island, to Leo Raymond and Cecile Marie Doiron died on August 11, 2022 with her family by her side following a long struggle with Frontotemporal Dementia.
Loving wife of Thomas McAleer, Loving mother of Leonard Thibault (Marie), Donna McAleer Smith (Doug) and Gary McAleer (Jayne). Beloved Grandmother of Catherine and Sarah Thibault, Randy McAleer and James Smith, and Jenny Richardson. Great Grandmother of Emmett and Willa McAleer.
Survived by sisters, Marcella and Joanne Doiron.
Pre-deceased by Parents Leo and Cecile Doiron, Siblings, Lionel Doiron, Simon Richards, Paulette Proctor, Sharon Doiron and Robert Doiron.
Daughter-in-law to the late Gavin Charles and Frances Penelope McAleer.
Sister-in-law to Mary (Willie) Dunn, Florence (Eugene) Larkin, Jimmy (Callie) McAleer, Ann (Jim) Pratt and Jean Doiron and George Proctor.
Dearly loved aunt of Lee, Shawn, Debbie, Charlene, Brent, Elaine, Kelly, Tim, David, Bobby, Gary, Billy, Susan, Terry, Joanne, Brian, Christopher, Tammy, Shannon, Philip and Connor.
Service to be held on Saturday, August 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church – 379 Division St. Cobourg. With reception to follow at the Cobourg Lions Centre – 157 Elgin St. E.

Tom and family, Chuck and I are very sorry to hear of Leona's passing. Leona was a very kind and lovely lady. She also had a fun side to her also. We used to wave at each other when we arrived in church. So sorry for your loss.

Marie was a volunteer of the Northumberland Hills Hospital for 6 yrs between the span of 2004 to 2010. Marie was an amazing addition to our team and many of our volunteers recall volunteering alongside her with fondness. She leaves many friendships and great memories within our group. We are so saddened to hear of her passing, she will be greatly missed. Sending love from NHH staff, Auxiliary board and our volunteers!

Leona and Bob used to get into some great arguments when ever they worked together at the Blood Clinics but she was truly one of my best volunteers always ready to help. Prayers and thoughts are with you Tom and your family .
