William John "Bill" Abraham

September 26, 1947 - August 10, 2022

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of William “Bill” John Abraham in his 74th year on August 10, 2022 at Northumberland Hills Hospital. Bill was born and raised in Cobourg. Working for over 30 years at Belden Wire and Cable, he brought his big personality, friendly nature, and comedic antics to his everyday work life. He raised two sons Derek and Ryan, which was no easy task, but had the love and support of his wife (of 34 years) and best friend, Wendy, to help him along the way. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.

If you have ever met Bill, you definitely have a story to tell. His sense of humour and kindness were unparalleled. Today we have lost a true legend, one who has touched so many lives and helped so many people. We will never forget the stories which will live on forever in our hearts and souls.

Bill was predeceased by his parents Emerson and Jean Abraham; brother Tom Abraham; and brother-in-law Herman Benne. He is survived by his wife Wendy; his sons Derek (Caroline) and Ryan (Sara); his two grandkids Jack and Charlie; and his sisters Mary Sommerville (brother-in-law Dave), Judy Benne, Nancy Abraham and sister-in-law Laura Abraham.

A private family interment service will be held at Cobourg Union Cemetery at 11:00 am Saturday, August 20th. A Celebration of Life, open to friends and family, will be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your charity of choice.

A special thank you to all the staff and medical teams at Northumberland Hills Hospital, who supported us during this difficult time.

So deeply saddened to know that Bill has left us. We send our heartfelt condolences to Wendy, Derek and Ryan and to his whole family. We first met Bill and Wendy, when our daughter, Caroline, married their son Derek. What a memorable and fun time we had in Las Vegas. Bill was fun to be with, always a twinkle in his eye, especially when he couldn’t resist the urge to lovingly tease friends and family. He delighted in spending time with his two grandsons who certainly loved him. How can we forget the yummy, gastronomic delights he brought to share at every Burlington celebration. Your family and friends loved you dearly Bill, and we are all going to miss you very much. Wendy and family, hold onto your wonderful memories of Bill. He will always be with you. Fondest love Yvonne and David
