Stuart Wayne Dawes

February 22, 1946 - January 9, 2022

“May the veil between heaven and earth seem especially thin. May you sense like never before the presence and the power of the living God.”
On Sunday January 9th, 2022 in his 76th year, Wayne passed peacefully and quietly through that veil to his heavenly home. Beloved husband of Mafalda (nee Cechetto) Dawes of 51 years. Loving father of Dale. Proud grandfather of Alyssa, Brookelyn, and Brennan. A faithful servant of Jesus Christ, pastor and teacher of God’s word.
Thank you to family and friends for their support, love, and prayers. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Extendicare Cobourg Staff for their exceptional care of Wayne. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Those wishing may make a memorial donation to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Wayne was a friend with whom I shared many enjoyable and significant times. He helped me grow in my Christian faith. My life was enriched through my association with both Wayne and Mafalda during our years together at Knox's Galt. I know that God's Grace will continue to be with Mafalda and Dale during this trying time, and He will help them to recall the many more joyful events during their lives together. Rest in peace Wayne.

Carol Harvey - January 17, 2022

Such a lovely portrayal of such a wonderful man. I can feel the sparkle in his eyes and the warmth of his smile when I look at the picture. I know that you have been grieving loss upon loss over many years my, dear friend. I pray that you will have peace and allow yourself to be happy again! As for Wayne, he no longer needs a camera to capture beauty, and he is once again able to use his wise perceptive mind! After such a long difficult journey for you both, Wayne is home and at rest in his father's heavenly presence and you can rest in God's earthly presence.

Although my time with the family was short in comparison to the life you had all spent with Wayne I know How special he was to a lot of people. I enjoyed seeing the sparkle in his eye when he was surrounded by those he loved, you could tell where his joy was held! My love and thoughts are with all of you until you see him again.

A good friend is hard to find. Having someone who will listen, whose advice you value, whose wisdom enhances your life, and who is willing to accept you as you are is a rare blessing. Wayne Dawes was such a blessing to me. He was a true friend with whom I could have fulfilling discussions on art and philosophy, one who would listen to what I had to say without judgement. He made my life and those of others better. He is loved and will be truly missed.

Dear Mafalda ... Our sincere sympathy, shocked to see this post. We remember Wayne from EPBC, but certainly haven't had the contact over the years. So very sorry .... praying the Lord's comfort and peace upon you and the family. (Contenders '70)

Ray and Betty Faulkner - January 11, 2022

Our love and prayers for you, Mafalda, and your family. It was a privilege to get to know Wayne in our first year at EPBC, where we roomed on the third floor and went to the same classes. A memory that still brings a smile to me (Ray) of Wayne: he and I missed the grade for weekend assignments together with our attempts at "He Walked That Lonesome Road". So thankful that Wayne and you got to walk together for 51 years, and he is now in the presence of the Lord he loved and served so well. May his Lord continue to walk the road with you and your loved ones day by day. Betty and Ray Faulkner
