Peacefully at the Northumberland Hills Hospital surrounded by family on Sunday, September 26th, 2021, Darlene Birney (nee Woods) at 85 years of age. Daughter of the late Clarence “Cutty” Woods and the late Margaret Woods (nee Stevenson). Loving mother of Cathy Birney (Roger Fitchett), Sharon Gutteridge (Michael), and Rob Birney (Judy). Cherished grandmother of Christopher (Lindsay), Dayna, Andrew (Marsha), Justin (Becca), Jillian (Jack), Matthew (Chloe), and great grandmother of Lily, Liam, Michael, Hunter, Oliver. Dear sister of Muriel Woods, Helen Braine (Barry), the late Reg Woods (Sara). Cremation with celebration to be announced at a later date. The family would like to thank Dr. AL-Ali and I.C.U. nurse Elisha for their care and compassion. Those wishing may make a donation to a charity of choice.

She always had a calming way about her and Brian has fond memories of her as well growing up with you Rob and being at your house, on yet another adventure. We were so sorry to hear of Darlene’s passing! Darlene was such a good neighbour, she didn’t mind when my daughter would knock on her door so she could show off her cat. Such a lovely lady!!! Our heart goes out to the family
