Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Cobourg Northumberland Hills Hospital on Thursday September 23rd in his 91st year. Beloved husband for 67 years to Lorena McWhirter. Loving father of 4 children, Richard McWhirter (pre-deceased) (Debbie), Susan Kerr (Sam), David McWhirter (Judy), and Heather Johnston (Glen). Don will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Valerie (Frank), Stephanie, Adam (Alison), Matthew, Lindsey (Rocky), Kate (Jake) and Cal (Julia). Fondly remembered by 8 great-grandchildren. Fun and loving brother to Bertha, Gertrude and pre-deceased by his sister Viva and brothers Alymer, Eldon, William, and Edward.
He will be remembered by many friends and family in the Grande Cascapedia, Quebec Region.
As per Don’s request, a private family gathering is being held at a later time.
