Peacefully at the Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg on Friday, July 16th, 2021, Bud Thompson at 87 years of age. Dear son of the late Clarke and Eva Thompson. Brother of Paul Thompson and predeceased by his siblings Dale, Gerald, Ruth, Nancy. Missed by his many nieces and nephews. Also missed by the residents and staff of Legion Village, the older patrons of Kelly's and everyone who knew him. Cremation with a private interment at Cobourg Union Cemetery. Those wishing may make a memorial donation to Legion Village.
Dear Family On the very first day June 15, 2013 when Ann and I moved into Legion Village we were warned, "Look out for 'Bud'. He could clobber you with his stick." So we looked out for Bud in a good way. He became my good friend. Bud and I had identical Arnold Palmer golf shirts and when we wore them at the same time we said, "Hey, Bud we're twins." Bud would wander in from Kelly's and before I knew his last name I thought it might be "Wiser". Of course, Janice was his "girlfriend" and one day he slipped and called her his "wife". We never made fun of him. He'd had enough of that in his life. May God sustain you all and by the way, just like #99, I have retired my golf shirt.
Very sad to hear about the passing of Bud. Our condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed by his Kelly's Hotel family and I will miss our bantering back and forth. Bud was always fun to have around. Pat and Mary Ann Kelly
