Peacefully at his home in Cobourg on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, Geoffrey Coleman at 94 years of age. Cherished partner of Barbara Reading and former husband of the late Barbara Sutherland and the late Barbara Rae. Dear step-father of Glenn (Linda) Sutherland and Lynn (Allan) Maclean. Loved grandfather of Jason (Candace) Maclean, Brandon (Genny) Maclean, and ten great grandchildren. Geoff will be missed by the Reading family; Barb’s children Garry and Gail (Blake) Fisher, grandchildren Darrin, Deborah and Diane, and many great grandchildren.
Geoff was brother of the late Renee (George) Rippengale and Gerry Coleman.
Geoff enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces April 9, 1944 and was posted in Egypt and Belgium. He rose to the rank of Warrant Office before retiring from the Forces November 1, 1969. Geoff then worked as Materials Manager at Borden Chemical Company in Cobourg retiring at the age of 57.
“Geoffy” packed a lot of fun into his nearly 95 years. He had a passion for golf, which he enjoyed until the age of 92, and could be counted on to be the life of any party. Since Covid doesn’t allow for a celebration of life it would please Geoff and the family if you would raise a glass in his memory.
A heartfelt thank you to Dana Dudley and the wonderful staff at Palisades Garden who went above and beyond to make Geoff’s wish to remain at home possible.
The family would also like to express their thanks and gratitude to Dr. Mule and the LHIN.
Cremation with interment at Cobourg Union Cemetery. Those wishing may make memorial donations to the M.S. Society of Canada
Dear Barbara When your Christmas card did not arrive this year I was sure something must be wrong. I did a little investigation. I am so sorry for your loss. You and Geoff never did get the chance to enjoy the warm weather South again because of Covid. But you still had each other up until now. May you find peace and comfort in your family and friends. Margaret Chase and James Horan
Hi Barb, our condolences to you and your family as well as Geoff,s family. Pat and Karen

Dear Barb: We were so sorry to hear of Geoffy's passing, he was a great golf buddy, and just about the nicest person one could ever meet. So glad he was able to stay at home so that you could be with him at the end. With love from Patricia and Ian
I was so sad to hear this news, my deepest condolences to you Barb and all the family. Enjoyed many fun times with Geoff at the legion and going out for group dinners. Thinking of you, Cheers to you our friend.
Barb Karen and I are sad to see Geoff pass on. We enjoyed many times at the legion with Geoff. His favorite saying was I'M old you know. I did go golfing with Geoff once. He told me to stick to fishing. Will raise that glass tonight.
Dear Barbara and Family, It was with great sadness that we learned of Geoffy's passing and we send our sincere condolences at this time. Life was never dull living next door to Geoff on Armour Court, he was predictable only through his 4 p.m. drive to The Legion everyday. But Geoffy was the most fun at Dalewood where he was the Competitions chief of the 100 plus Seniors Group. I know that he spent hours after each golf day working through the scores and handicaps and it was always fair. When others took over it went downhill really quickly. A true character and all round good guy. Our thoughts are with you at this time. Regards, Malcolm and Maureen Blackburn
We were saddened to learn of Geoff passing on, we knew Geoff through the family, he was a great friend and will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Geoffrey's passing, condolences to all his family and friends. I worked with Geoffrey at Borden's many years ago. He was the most sweetest, kind, generous, loveable, funny person I ever knew. We had so much fun in the office with his pranks and lots and lots of laughs. Occasionally over the years, I would bump into Geoffrey, always with a smile and a nice chat. So here's to you Geoffrey.....cheers ! Thanks for the memories, rest in peace.
Geoff was such a gentleman. He gave you his full attention. I will always remember his happy smile and especially he and Barb dancing at her birthday party. A very special man. We enjoyed his visits to our wine store.

To all of Geoffy's family, Tomo and I send our utmost condolences. There is little doubt that our fondest memories of our time in Cobourg was highlighted by our neighbor across the street. He was truly one of a kind and everyone has lost a very special guy. Rest well our friend. FORE!
To all of Geoffreys' (or as we referred to him Walters') Family, "Walter" was a patient of Peters at We-fix-u and we loved when he visited. We nicknamed him Walter (because of his likeness to the actor Walter Matheau). We never called him Geoffrey and the nickname was something he seemed to enjoy very much. We will miss his quiet disposition and wonderful sense of humour. May your shared memories comfort you at the very difficult time. Sincerest Condolence, Peter, Mark, Cristol and Debbie The We-Fix-U Chiropody Family.
