Dear Doug, Alexis, Ryan and Families; I just heard of Debbie's passing. Like so so many I am deeply saddened. She was, as anyone that knew her knew, an incredible human being. I was so fortunate to teach with her in the early years of Terry Fox P.S. She was an extraordinary educator and tireless, invaluable staff member. ( Not everyone knows that she was the one that spearheaded the fundraising for, and the eventual building of, the playground equipment at our then brand new school). I never tired of running into her around town and having a good old chat. She always "sported" her trademark smile and laugh. Deb was with all sincerity, one of those people that absolutely made her community and this world a much much better place. My most heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you.

I was so sorry to hear that Debbie has passed away. She was my first grade teacher in Terry Fox's first year and she was and is to this day my favourite teacher. She was so positive and encouraging and kind. She made every student feel special and still did every time I saw her as an adult. She seemed always the same to me, never aging or changing in her positivity and warmth. My thoughts and condolences go to her family who I am sure will miss her dearly.

Debbie was a kind, loving, compassionate women, always a pleasure to chat and workout with when I was in curves! My heart felt condolences go out to Debbie’s entire family, Debbie will be missed, but wonderful memories to keep close to our hearts.

We'll always remember Debbie as a warm and caring Primary teacher at Burnham P.S. She also took part in many community initiatives to help others. Debbie always made working out at Curves a fun, friendly experience. She will indeed be missed by many.

I was shocked to learn the passing of Debbie. I had the pleasure of meeting Debbie when I rejoined Curves. She also had a smile on her face and made you feel like family and at home while working out. RIP and fly high and free my friend.

We were shocked at the news of Deborah's passing. It is moments like this that make me realize how time passes by. I regret that our friendship has slipped away. A friendship that was so strong. So sad to hear this news. I remember Debbie as caring, kind, full of fun, teacher and friend in our ‘primary’ hall at both The Burnham and Terry Fox schools. She did so much more than just the ‘classroom’...which was amazing. I’m sure the children she taught would have felt secure and surrounded in love and I know that the staff that worked with her felt well supported. Deb always worked to grow the good for the school community. She could band people together, focus them on a goal and lead them through to success being their number one cheer leader. Doug, we send our sincere condolences to you and your family at this time. I tried to describe Debbie to a friend one day. I told her to think of the best person she had ever known and double it-that would be Debbie. I explained that she exceeded all the goodness you could ever perceive was possible in one person. Although I only met Debbie briefly at Curves, I immediately fell “in love” with her kind and loving spirit. Truth be known, I can’t say that I have met many people like Debbie in my lifetime. She was truly one of a kind...Snow White as she was lovingly know at Terry Fox P.S. She was an angel on earth, and is now flying with the angels in heaven. Never forgotten.....

The community has lost a wonderful friend.Debbie was creative and hard working to make Curves a special gym where woman could exercise safely and socialize by joining her fun games which motivated participants to exercise together. As so many have said, there are truly no words. Debbie was, beyond a doubt, the best person I know. Such a thoughtful and caring person. She made everyone feel important. She leaves behind many wonderful memories and many broken hearts. My love and thoughts are with you all.

Debbie was one of the first people who welcomed me to Cobourg Curves 5 years ago. She introduced me to many wonderful women and made me feel like we made a great choice to make Cobourg our forever home. Debbie was always there to help everybody, share laughs and tell stories. The world will never be the same. Words can not express the sorrow that follows the passing of a beautiful, caring lady. So very sorry for the whole family, my second family. We called each other sisters and I am so very thankful that I was able to spend time with my sister during the final hours. Taken far too soon. I was so sorry to hear of Debbie’s passing. She and I taught at Terry Fox School for many years...our classrooms side by side in the primary wing. Debbie will be remembered for her organizational skills for many activities at the school, her caring for children, and for her musical laugh in the primary wing at the school.
