Born March 9, 1943 in Dundonald, ON. Died on July 11, 2020 at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg.
Daughter of Stanley and Mary Pearson. Loved mother of Shane Gibson (Nicole) and Adam Gibson (Andrea). Cherished Grandmother to Callum Gibson and step-Grandmother to Ben and Sam. Sibling of Elma Pearson (deceased) and Dan Pearson.
Nancy had a full and rewarding life. A childhood spent in Dundonald and Colborne, led her to Teacher's College in Peterborough and a first career teaching at South Cramahe PS. While raising her family Nancy had a second career at Zellers and was a dedicated member of the Cobourg store, retiring after 27 years. Nancy was an avid gardener her entire life with a passion for nurturing indoor and outdoor plants. In her senior years she discovered a true love for genealogy. Countless hours were spent combing ancestral records online and in person and Nancy established a family tree that grew to over 18,000 people and went back several generations, all the way to the Mayflower and before. She enjoyed finding and connecting to new cousins and sharing the stories of her family. Nancy was also an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Canadian curling, keeping meticulous handwritten notes and stats for the games she watched.
A service will not be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be arranged for a later date. Donations may be made in Nancy's memory to the Scleroderma Society of Ontario.

We were neighbours of Nancy’s at the Condominium, Densmore Village. We often chatted and discussed flowers we could grow. Nancy loved her perennials. Our deepest sympathy, may she rest peacefully.

Nancy was a truly wonderful and kind woman. I am thankful she taught me how to play Bid Euchre. Her interest in genealogy was inspiring; I hope someone in her family carries on with her records.
So saddened to hear that Nancy has passed away. She and I shared a love of family history, trading note and photos - especially for the Broomfield, Cowey/Cowie and associated lines. I was always so amazed how she could rhyme off names, dates and relationships going back generations! My condolences to all of her family.

Sorry to hear that Nancy passed away Our parents used to hang out together when we lived in Dundonald We lived in my moms homestead the Trottman farm Back in 1947 before moving to Brighton I am just a few months older I know she loved to work on the ancestry of our families with Cousin Marg Condolences to your family

My sincere condolences to sons Shane and Adam , brother Dan and their extended families in the loss of your beloved mother and sister. I have many fond memories of time spent at the farm in Dundonald, bringing in hay, helping to feed the threshers, teasing the geese and enjoying Aunt Mary's fabulous cooking. Nancy and I shared many stories and events as teachers and cousins. I especially was intrigued by her vast knowledge of genealogy and the work she did to document family histories. A great person. We will miss her.
So sorry to hear of the passing of Nancy. I fondly remember the family picnics and time spent at the Pearson farm in Dundonald. Please let us know when the date for the Celebration of Life is arranged.

Dear Family, Nancy was a much appreciated member of our Trinity United Church, Cobourg, family of faith. We were often in her company counting the Sunday offerings after church. To Nancy's family, I'm so sorry to hear of Nancy's passing. I knew her from her Zellers years. She was a smart lady, always kind to those of us making our way into the working world as teenagers back then. She worked with my mom Ann there as well and had comforting words for me when my Mom passed in 2011. I have seen Nancy from time to time and we always shared a smile and some friendly conversation. I was saddened to hear of Nancy's passing. I will dearly miss our lunches, and our long afternoons discussing our Family Tree discoveries. She constantly impressed me with her incredible recall of ancestor names, dates, and connections. It was because of Nancy, and her hard work, that we were able to organize a first Cowey/Cowie Reunion that drew over 200 participants. We were all amazed. My condolences to her family.

While we both worked at Zeller's we came to find that we both shared a love for genealogy, sharing bits here and there over the years, and I continue my search still today. Dear Family, We were so sorry to hear of Nancy's passing. We got to know her during our Silver Shufflers euchre games in our little village. She was so interested in her family history and was always willing to share it with us. We will miss her in the neighbourhood. In sharing a ride to Peterborough Teachers’College I found that Nancy was a thoughtful ,caring individual who will certainly be missed by everyone who knew her.
