Stanley William Mellen

February 22, 1939 - June 12, 2020

Stan Mellen 81, of Barrow-In-Furness passed away peacefully on June 12, 2020 in the town of Cobourg, Ontario. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 60 years, Veronica Mellen; his daughter Julie and son-in-law Brad Philp, and his son Gaz and daughter-in-law Pavla Mellen; as well as his brother Ken and sister-in-law Linda Mellen. He was also papa to three beautiful grandchildren, Mandy, Mercedes, and Aydin.
As a young man, Stan was involved in many school sports and was Captain of the school’s cricket team, 2 years younger than his fellow teammates, he took pride in being one of the top bowlers in the league.
Stan was recognized for his dedication with the Barrow In Furness Police force, where he received several commendations for his bravery and valour. His commitment to the police force, and his loyalty to his family, initiated his application to work for the Mississauga Police force, and in 1967, Stan moved his family to Canada to start a new life.
Stan enjoyed gaming as well as all sports making Vegas one of his destinations of choice.
The love for his grandchildren had them involved in his passions from gardening to teaching them how to play golf, time in the pool and dining out. Stan also had a generous heart, and throughout his life donated both to charities and those directly in need.
Stan’s final days were spent in Cobourg Extendicare, where he was religiously visited by his nurturing wife, Vera and cared for by the loving staff.
