Passed away peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre with her family by her side, on Monday March 16th, 2020 in her 94th year. Beloved wife for over 60 years of the late John Fakner. Cherished mother of Mary Jones (Don), Kathy Matthews (Gord) and Christine Fakner. Loving grandmother of Kevin Jones and Steven Jones (Danielle). Only daughter of the late Stefan and Agneta Gogesch. Mary will also be sadly missed by family and friends in Germany.
Mary and her family immigrated from Romania to Canada in 1963. They settled in the Town of Cobourg where they raised their family and lived happily for 57 years.
A funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cobourg on Saturday, March 21st, 2020 at 12 noon. This will be preceded by a visitation from 11 am to 12 noon at the church. Interment in Cobourg at Union Cemetery. If desired donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Northumberland Hills Hospital Dialysis Unit.
We were so sorry to hear about your loss. Your mom was always a good friend of dad's while at Rosewood. She always looked out for him, and everytime we met her in the hall, she would update us on some of the mischief dad was getting himself into. We often speak fondly of your mom, Dorothy, Helga & dad playing cards and other activities as they enjoyed themselves amongst their Rosewood family. Our deepest sympathies and condolences.
