Krakenberg, Joseph “Paul”, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22nd in Trenton, Ontario.
Paul was born on December 2, 1935 in Montreal, Quebec to William and Rose Krakenberg (LaBelle). The family moved to Cobourg, Ontario in the early 40’s, where he went to school and eventually became a police officer for the Town of Cobourg. Where he remained for over 30 years and was one of the longest standing members of the force when he retired. In his spare time he was a carpenter, a painter, a transport driver and enjoyed his gardening and golfing (especially the yearly family golf tournament and BBQ) and also the DIY remodels of his and Katie’s homes over the years. He wasn’t happy if he wasn’t busy. If the kids offered to give him a hand on a job he could do himself, he’d say “if you help me, what will I do when it’s done?” With his first wife Pauline he proudly built their first home at the age of 25, where they raised their five children.
Paul was the beloved husband of many years to Kathleen Krakenberg (O’Grady). He will be dearly missed by his children Ken Krakenberg (Bonnie), Kathy Krakenberg, Kirk Krakenberg (Kelly), Kris Krakenberg (Meri) and Kelley Krakenberg (Patty) and step children John Henry (Debbie) and Jane Holkema (Ed). He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren - Quinn Savoy (Shaun), Kristy White (Chris), Michol, Kassandra, Kyle, Shye and Maiah Krakenberg as well as Neil Brenton, Olivia Holkema and Kendra, Karsen and Karina Miller. Plus 7 great grandchildren - Klayton Meones, Olivia, Max and Mason White and Shannon, Nathan and MacKenzie Brenton, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Paul leaves behind a brother Tom Krakenberg (Faye) and is predeceased by his sister Violet Cochrane (Bud) and brother Richard Krakenberg (Ann).
According to his wishes there will be no funeral service. Memorial donations can be made to The Canadian Red Cross or The Canadian Cancer Society
