Donald Samuel Dunster

November 3, 1931 - July 17, 2019

Peacefully at Streamway Villa, Cobourg on Wednesday July 17th, 2019 in his 88th year.  Donald was born in 1931 to the late Samuel and Lula Dunster of Lyn, Ontario.  Donald was the beloved husband of his childhood sweetheart, the late Barbara Dunster (nee Quinn) and loving father to late son Dale and surviving daughters Dawn and Jayne (Ed).  He was loving brother to his surviving sister Marion (the late Jimmy), late sisters Estella (Late Byrne), Ethel (Bob), Beatrice (the late Herbie), Jean (the late George) and late brothers Harold (late Phyllis), Frank (late Mary) and John (surviving Phyllis). Brother in law to Joan Scott (Gary) and the late Beverly Boyd (late George). He was grandfather to Nadra (Joe) and great grandfather to Carter, Alexis, Talon, Madden and Temperance.  He was uncle Donnie to several nieces and nephews.  Donald had ingrained in him a deep and abiding faith in God and humanity thanks to his upbringing and influence of his church.  He often credited a wise woman who in his pre and teen years, encouraged him to “always look for the good in people”, and he always did.  Donald’s career was in banking where he was well liked and respected throughout his forty one and a half years.  During his life he was an active member of his church, service clubs, and board groups and served as treasurer for his career and life and was grateful for the many opportunities he was afforded.  His passion was music and he learned to play the piano at a very early age.  At nine years old he originally accompanied Barbara at 5 yrs. old, when she sang such songs as “Bless them All”.  They “performed” for over 50 years at church services, weddings, fundraisers, public events and social gatherings.  As a member of the Rotary he thoroughly enjoyed playing piano for the singing members and guests.  He was most appreciative when he was made a Paul Harris Fellow for his contributions.  Donald had a quick sense of humour and used it liberally. He loved jokes, everything seemed to remind him of one.  He was a giving, considerate, forgiving and loving husband, father, grandfather , great grandfather , brother, uncle and friend.  Donald will be remembered fondly as a very kind and gentle man.  A true gentleman.  A private family service and burial took place on Friday July 18th, 2019 at Rosemount Memorial Gardens. Many thanks to Dr. Philip Stratford and the Streamway Villa Staff and Volunteers.  Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com.
