Margaret Andrews

July 23, 1921 - February 18, 2018

Died in her 97th year at Bowmanville Hospital of a suspected bowel obstruction. Determined to leave this earth on her own terms, Maggie refused surgical intervention and palliative care was initiated. At 2:00 a.m. Sunday the 18th her life peacefully ended. Maggie was recuperating at Strathaven Convalescent Home after a fall in December 2017. She is survived by her two beloved daughters, Jackie Clair and Sarah Glenys. It was at their home in Cobourg that Maggie spent the last 17 years of her life after the death of her husband, Charles, in March 2001. She will always be remembered by her friends, nieces and nephews in Canada and the United Kingdom. She shared with all of us her many memories of the war years in Southhampton England, the handsome dark haired Canadian she married in December 1941 and her introduction to rural Ontario in 1946. It was quite a culture shock. In 1954 Maggie and Charles moved to Cobourg where she was employed by General Electric from 1955 to 1977. The last two years became difficult for Maggie and this is where we owe our deepest gratitude to Nancy who was always ready at our side when we needed a helping hand. You are a true friend and a fabulous nurse. We could not have managed without you. Also, our wonderful cousin Bill, Ann and his family who spent many happy times with us and were a great comfort and support visiting mum at the N.H.H. and in Bowmanville. Ann remembered what you said, Maggie, regarding Tim Horton’s donuts. Well, Bill delivered them on Monday the 19th. Mum you left on your final journey with your own box of Timbits. The only other man that Maggie loved apart from Charles was the one and only Frank Sinatra and it is his great signature song that is her perfect epitaph. “I Did It My Way”. Yes Maggie, you certainly did! Bravo. We will all miss you so very much. Love Always,       Jackie and Glenys. Cremation has taken place. Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com.
