Died at Extendicare, Port Hope and passed into heaven on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Betty was born January 19, 1922 in Colborne to Norma and Harry Fowler where she lived until 1938, when the family moved to 352 George Street in Cobourg. After graduating from Cobourg High School, Betty joined the family business - Fowler's Tobacco and Candy Wholesale and spent time travelling on the road with her Dad calling on various businesses taking orders and in later years she could recall names, locations and money owed! Betty was a long time, faithful and proud member of the Eastern Star, Colborne Chapter #82, that her Mother founded in 1921. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Omar Temple in Toronto for many years. In January of 1943 she married Gregg Haight and was his beloved wife for 58 years until his death in 2001. Betty and Gregg enjoyed travelling and in 1971 they embarked on a three month cruise around the world. Betty kept an extensive diary of their travels and they both had fond memories of their adventure. They also enjoyed many winters at their Florida home and summers in Colborne. Betty's Mother, Norma, was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Betty often told people that she was half American - she just didn't know which half. Betty's love of family, quick wit and sense of humour will always be rememberd by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Beloved Mother of Carolyn (Mart) Sherwin of St. Pete Beach, Florida and Patricia (the late Des) Blacquiere, of Cobourg. Loving Gramma of Steven (Terry) Bull, Scott (Grace) Bull, Shawna (Jim) Phelps, Misha Richards, Mike (Kelly) Richards and Great Gramma to Samantha, Sabrina, Ryan, Matthew, Ray, Ryleigh, Brodie, Michael, Brock and London. Sincere thanks to Dr. Phillip Stratford and the staff at Extendicare, Port Hope. Cremation without visitation or service. Interment at a later date at Lakeport Cemetery.
