Marion Ila MacGregor

May 16, 1929 - October 21, 2013

Marion was the beloved wife of the late Vernon MacGregor.  Loving Mother to Cheri (Brian Milner), Cobourg and Randy, Vestal, NY.  Much loved Nana to Brad Boundy (Mona Saleh), Kate Milner (Andrew Petrasiunas), Ken Milner (Gabbi Whitlock), Justin and Dillon MacGregor.  She will be missed by great grandsons, Zack and Josh, and step great grandchildren, Julia and Simon.  Dear sister of Kathleen Crump, Lakefield, Joyce Evans (Doug), Lindsay and sister-in-law, Carol Godfray (Ray), Barrie.  Marion was predeceased by her parents, Archie & Alma McGregor, her brother, Kenneth, her parents-in-law, Clayton and Gladys MacGregor and her brother-in-law, Don MacGregor.  Until Vern’s death, Marion was very active in the community.  From 1955 until her first grandchild was born, she worked hand in hand with Vern and then Cheri in the family business.  She was the treasurer of the Cobourg Community Hockey Auxiliary for 25 years.  As a member of Eastern Star, she held many positions and was involved in their fundraising until she began wintering in Florida.  She joined Inner Wheel of Cobourg after her failing health prevented her from traveling to her Florida home.  Each summer she continued to enjoy her own little piece of paradise at the family cottage at Little Lake.  Marion moved to Palisade Gardens 3 1/2 years ago and was extremely happy in her condo there.  She proudly followed Randy’s professional hockey career, supported the Cobourg Cougars during the 1970’s while Vern was a coach and she encouraged Brad, Justin & Dillon in their sporting endeavours.  Marion was a breast cancer survivor.  All of her grandchildren and great-grandsons were treated with her “chicken pot pie”; a dish they came to associate with all family gatherings.  While others attempted to duplicate this recipe, everyone would proclaim that “Nana’s was better”.   A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 25 at 3 p.m. at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King Street East, Cobourg, with visitation to be held from 1-3 p.m.  Those wishing may make donations to Breast Cancer Research Fund or Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.  Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com.
