Dr. Raymond John Parthun

May 29, 1936 - July 12, 2012

Dr. Raymond John Parthun - passed away peacefully at home July 12, 2012, at the age of 76. Loving father of Marie Rodricks (nee Parthun) (Jeffery Rodricks), Felice (Steve Mills), Peter (Wilma Hos), Matthew (Isabella Piatek). Beloved Grandfather to Ciara, Danielle, Noah, Emma, Hannah, Max, Sabrina. Brother to Paul Parthun (Karen), predeceased by his wife Mary Lassance Parthun, son of Edwin and Jeanette Parthun. Born in Wisconsin in 1936, Dr. Parthun was educated by the Jesuits before completing an MA at Marquette University and a Phd at the University of Ottawa, both in Psychology. Dr. Parthun was dedicated to his work and was still practicing at the time of his death. He contributed extensively to the communities of Peterborough, Cobourg, Bowmanville and Toronto. He took great pleasure in music and served as Chair of the Royal Society of Organists of Canada, a position that allowed him to share his love for that complex instrument. He was the centre of his family; brilliant, hardworking, uncomplaining, yet soft hearted. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church (Corner of University Ave. Division St.) in Cobourg on Tuesday, July 17th, at 2pm. Visitation to be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg on Monday, July 16th, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Parish Prayers to be held at the funeral home on Monday evening at 8:45pm. Memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com.
