Butler, Eugene John ?Gene? - Former Cobourg Chief of Police, Veteran WWII, Cobourg Rotarian-Paul Harris Fellow, Member RCL Br. 133. - Peacefully at the Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg on Thursday, September 28th, 2006, Gene Butler, gentleman, at 84 years of age. Beloved husband of Mavis Butler (nee Pink). Cherished father of Lynn Barlow and her husband Andrew, and Valerie King and her husband Mark. Dear brother of the late Margaret (the late Duke Kilgannon), Marion (the late Craig Sedgwick), Don Butler (Louise), Jim Butler (the late Dorothy), Dorothy (the late Allen Feldstein), and the late John Tait Butler Jr. Devoted son of the late Jack and Lucille Butler. Loving son-in-law of the late Lewis and Agnes Pink and brother-in-law of the late Frank Pink and Irene Armstrong of England. Also fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg on Tuesday, October 3rd at 11 am. Visitation to be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Cremation to follow. In appreciation of the wonderful care that Gene received at the hospital, those wishing may make a memorial donation by cheque to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.
