Peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg in his 79th year. Beloved husband of Lois (nee Cuthbert). Loving father of Janna McKaye (Kevin) and Carolyn Stephen (John Rothernel). Cherished Poppa of Brock McKaye. Dear brother of Marion (Rick) McIvor and Darlene (Alan) Wegg. Brother-in-Law of Lynn Cuthbert and John Cuthbert. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Helen. David will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 2 – 5 p.m. and on Friday, October 11, 2019 from noon – 1 p.m. followed by a service in the chapel at 1 p.m. Interment Centreton Cemetery. Donations to the Centreton Cemetery or St. Andrew’s United Church, Grafton would be appreciated. Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com.

We spent many years together at the Cobourg Jail and I will never forget his wit and wisdom - He got me out of a few jams lol I’m sure he is looking down and never missing a thing!!! He was a very wise and a loving man who will be sadly missed by everyone . Love you moon xo

So sorry to hear of Dave passing. He was a great guy to work with and his sense of humour was loved by all. My thoughts are with you all at this sad time.
Our deepest condolences for your loss. I have such fond memories of working with “Moon” both when he was at the jail and with the Cobourg Police. He was a great mentor to the younger staff on how to treat people with respect and dignity.

To the family of Davi "Moon" Stephen. I was saddened today to hear of "Moon"'s passing. I came to know him when he was serving as a court security officer and I was practising law in Cobourg between 1977 and 2012. While we were both involved in serious work, his never ending good humour eased all the tensions and concerns that could arise during the working day. He was obviously so well respected and appreciated by his fellow officers, and I always looked forward to our very pleasant interactions.
