Alexander "Sandy" MacGregor
October 11, 1946 - September 20, 2019
Sandy MacGregor was a successful man. A man of integrity. A man who believed strongly in family first. In the importance of doing what is right. He believed in the kindness of strangers. The good in others. Stranger, family or friend, everyone was welcomed by Sandy.
Above all, he adored his family. His relationship with his wife Eliane is one of eternal love. For 49-years she has been his business partner, his best friend, his soulmate, his everything. With Eliane by his side, Sandy raised three children, Jason (Kelly), Michele (Stephane Jutras), and Mark (Amanda Galbraith), who admired and adored their father. Each have built lives and families of their own thanks to the strong foundation and guidance he provided.
Sandy was the kind of Grandpa you wish you had. His grandchildren Grace, Alicia, Aleksandro and Tristan were never without a hug, a piece of advice and an extra cheesy “grandpa joke”.
Sandy passed away suddenly at the age of 72. He went peacefully, surrounded by his loving family in his final moments.
Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Sandy’s life at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg on Friday, September 27th at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow in the funeral home reception centre.
His family would like to thank the Peterborough Regional Health Care Centre for all the wonderful care they provided Sandy and the support given to the family during such a difficult time. They greatly appreciated the medical technology as well as the physical space to be together as a family that were provided. His family would like to honour Sandy by providing the same opportunities to other families who find themselves in these circumstances. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-loving-memory-of-alexander-quotsandyquot-macgregorand be part of our plan to honour Sandy.
A Successful Man
“That man is a success –
who has lived well,
laughed often and loved much;
who has gained the respect of intelligent men
and the love of children;
who has filled his niche
and accomplished his task;
who leaves the world better
than he found it;
who has never lacked appreciation of earth’s beauty
or failed to express it.;
who looked for the best in others
and gave the best he had.”
