Lyle Francis McBride

March 2, 1956 - April 26, 2024

It is with heavy hearts the family of Lyle McBride announce his passing at the Northumberland Hills Hospital Friday, April 26, 2024 at the age of 68. While Lyle faced great adversity with his health for many years, he did not let that alter a life well lived. Lyle loved the outdoors; if he wasn't found on the golf course, he was down at the lake with a fishing rod in his hands (or losing Sam's fish). He loved history and to travel. He had the opportunity to explore many ancient ruins with Mary-Lynne. He spent a lot of his free time enjoying Rock and Roll and Blues music. He is the deeply loved best friend and cherished partner to Mary-Lynne Brett, a loving cat dad to Charlie-Blue and the greatest dad to Sam (Amanda Hyde) McBride. Loved grandpa to Tatiana (Jordan Judson) Hyde and Kayden McBride Hyde. Lyle is the son of pre-deceased Jim and Alice McBride and will be greatly missed by his brothers Doug (Merri) McBride, Ken McBride as well as his nieces and nephews; Jennifer (Chris), Kelly, Kory (Lauren), Kasey (Nadia) and Megan. He is going to be missed by his friends Michael Bond as well as Randy Jacobs “Jake”. Lyle made a great impact on those around him. His quick-witted humour and kind heart is going to be deeply missed by his great-nieces and nephews, his extended family and his wonderful friends.

At this time cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be announced in the future. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Toe Bean’s Cat Café or the Northumberland Humane Society.

MESSAGES OF CONDOLENCE / DONATIONS

Sheila McKinnon - May 18, 2024

I'm so sorry that Lyle had to leave us so early. He was a really great guy and we often joked about being outlaws as opposed to inlaws. Lyle always cooked a delicious meal whenever I came to stay with him and my cousin, Mary-Lynne, for a day or two. Many people will miss you, Lyle!

Michael Bond - May 10, 2024

Lyle (DAD) ,Jake and I are going to truly miss our July 1st fishing trips arguing about what direction to take to find those illusive pickerel. And it didn't matter it was always the wrong spot. But it was the company and camaraderie telling old war stories as we reminisced about our exploits in Port Elgin. No one can take that away from us. Our stories will last forever in the ether. Bye buddy we love ya!

Barrie and Janet Brett - May 9, 2024

Our deepest condolences to Lyle's family and to Mary-Lynne Brett his wonderful companion and friend. Lyle was a very warm and cherished friend to our family. He was always welcoming and loved to share witty stories and provide much needed advice. He fought hard during his health issues to remain positive and provide love to his family and friends. He will be sorely missed and we pray he will be at peace.

Carolanne and David Smith - May 8, 2024

He was so kind, thoughtful and generous. Our hearts are breaking for you, Mary Lynne and his son, Sam and the entire family. May he now rest in eternal peace, free from pain and suffering. We will miss you Lyle. Sending lots of hugs and love. Carolanne and David Smith

So sorry for your loss Mary-Lynne. Lyle’s legacy of love and kindness will live on, of that I am sure. I’m remembering Lyle’s warm smile, his laugh, his kind heart, his positivity and his humour. I always enjoyed our chats, even when he was in the hospital. Whenever I asked how he was doing, he always answered “just another day in paradise”! Lyle will be sorely missed by so many. He was one of a kind. Know that Ian and I are thinking of you Mary-Lynne. Sending hugs and love. May Lyle’s light shine bright and his spirit travel far.

Shalley Reyns - May 7, 2024

Mary-Lynne and family my condolences on the loss of Lyle. Lyle was a great neighbour in Harwood on Rice Lake, always nice to have chats with and he always had a wave. I’m sure he’s back in the boat fishing and free of pain. May you Cherish your memories forever.❣️

A most sad way to begin the season that Lyle would have loved...soaking up the sun. We had many a laugh enjoying dinner parties with Lyle and MaryLynn. We must say "He was a mighty fine Chef". Condolences to Sam, MaryLynn and extended family.

We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Uncle Lyle. Please accept our heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. Losing someone as special as Uncle Lyle is truly a loss that cannot be put into words. I have many fond memories of the times I spent with him, staying at his house on rice lake for a week one summer or when he would come to my birthdays (uncle Lyle and Marry-Lynne always brought the best lego). I’ll cherish these memories forever. We hope the memories of Uncle Lyle bring you comfort and strength in the days ahead. With deepest sympathy, Kasey, Nadia, Weston and Hazen
