Peacefully on December 12, 2023 at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg, Ontario at the age of 89. Beloved and devoted husband of Diane (Pagnuelo) and proud father of Heather (Don McKenzie) and Margo (Luigi Clementi). Predeceased by his parents James Patrick and Mary Edna (Bissett) and brother Bob. Survived by his loving grandchildren Shawn (Julie Csaki), Brianna and Kyran; his cousins Gerald Bissett (Kathleen) and Reina (Campbell), his sisters-in-law Suzanne (Walker) and Marilyn (Pagnuelo) and his nieces Lindsay (Norm Aitken), Stephanie (Ferguson), nephews Geoff (Michelle Walsh) and Matthew (Chloe Karger) and great nephew Preston and great nieces Brooklyn and Jessica.
Larry grew up in Montreal and earned a B.A. and B.Comm. degrees from Loyola College. He worked in the family shipping business for several years and continued on to earn a Masters degree from McGill University and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. He commenced teaching Economics and Finance at Loyola College from 1960-1974 and continued in the Department of Finance until his retirement in 1994. He became Vice-President, Consulting Services at Peak Financial Services from 1995-2005. He was legendary at Concordia University as one of the most loved and respected professors. Larry held many administrative positions. He received many accolades and awards in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the university. The kindness and compassion he showed to his students was exceptional and no one advocated for his students more than he did. His door was always open at any time and thousands of students were helped over his 30+ years at the university,
One of his many passions was golf. He was President of Kanawaki Golf Club, the Quebec Golf Association (now Golf Quebec) and was a Governor and Rules Chairman for the Royal Canadian Golf Association and that is only scratching the surface. Larry was a very humble and kind man who never wanted any fuss to be made about him. He said he would like to be remembered as someone who helped people. He did that and so much more.
A celebration of Larry’s life will take place Saturday May 18th, 2:00pm in the Loyola Chapel at Concordia University, Montreal. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loyola High School Foundation, Habilitas Foundation or a charity of your choice.

Mr Boyle was a very good man. He new is rules and was appling it with class. Sinceres condeleances to the family.
My condolences to all the family. Mr. Boyle was one of my favorite rules' officials, and we became friends as I played in many of the tournaments that he officiated in. He made his rules calls fun by putting in a funny remark when giving me a ruling. Sometimes you had to find him and wake him up to get a ruling....that was Larry! He will be missed, lovely person that I was able to get to know.
Diane & family, My Deepest Sympathies for the loss of an amazing man . Larry was a kind, gentle and caring soul that was there to help everyone. I thought that he was such a gentleman, he will be greatly missed. May he live forever in your hearts.
Diane and family, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Professor Boyle. I was a student in his Personal Finance class at Concordia. One of my fondest memories of him was on the first day of class; I was wearing a Notre Dame sweatshirt and when he saw it he shared that he was a fan of this school and the football team. Dear Diane, I'm so sorry to hear about Larry. I only met Larry once but feel that I knew him through your stories. He truly loved (even if sometimes was a little exasperated by) his students and I know he made a difference in their lives. Soo sad to hear about Professor Boyle.. I was one of his students, and he was indeed one of a kind..such a kind and humble soul. I'm grateful to have known him. I'm sure he's enjoying his golf in heaven. My sympathies to Diane and family. Angie
Dear Diane, I am very sorry for your loss. Larry was simply a great guy. He helped me both professionally, when I was in university administration and personally, in the area of personal finance, while he was at Concordia. (as part of the process, for a month, he made my wife and I keep a daily log of all our expenses down to the last cent. What an eye-opener that was). He never, ever, asked for anything in return. May he rest in peace.
Dear Diane, Our love goes out to you and the Boyle family. Larry - in a very personal way - impacted the lives of many, including both of us. Despite his many acts of kindness and accomplishments, humility was Larry's calling card. His life of 'service to others' represented superbly the hallmark of a Jesuit education. With Larry's passing, the 'Fighting Irish' have lost their #1 fan; the world has lost a fine gentleman; and we have lost a great friend. May you rest in peace, Larry. Diane, I was so sorry to hear of Larry’s death. I remember him fondly from years at Loyola and Concordia. There were few faculty members who were as helpful and open to sorting out students’ problems as Larry was. There are many who appreciated his common sense, his kindness and his support. To Diane, Margo, Heather, and the rest of the family, please accept my most sincere sympathies. Larry had a profound impact on my life the that of many in our circle. He was a professor, a mentor, a colleague, an advisor, and a trusted partner throughout my whole career. He touched many lives through his kindness and his wisdom. It has been a privilege and a gift to have him in our lives and his legacy will live on through us. Heaven will have a special place for him. I'll bet he's humbly reading the Canadian Golf Rule Book to the others up there!

I am very sorry to hear about Professor Boyle. I was one of his finance students at Loyola campus in the early 1980s. He was a kind and helpful professor. He was one of those teachers who you wished you got to know him personally. Rest in Peace Professor Boyle.

To Diane: sincere condolences on Larry’s passing. I knew him for a period of several years when I was a doctoral student at Concordia and then again when I joined the Finance Department on a full-time basis. He will be sadly missed.

We miss Larry so much, he was such and kind,thoughtful,caring and giving man. Just Rest In Peace my friend and we will see you again some day and I will teach you how to play cribbage.
I will miss Uncle Larry, he taught me some of the best life skills through the game of golf. I learned respect for the sport, the rules and the players. My fondest memory was playing golf at Kanawaki with Larry, he was proud to have there. I will miss the conversations of golf course design, the rules of golf and of course college football.
As a child, I recall how sweet he was to me and my brothers, and how much my father enjoyed his company during the various family visits. And as I am a musician from an early age, I was fascinated by his white piano and his beautiful playing. He was an interesting man, and I shall miss him.
